How long for Oncotype test results
Wondering how long everyone had to wait for their results. My test was ordered this past Monday and I see my surgeon on Wednesday next week. Hoping he has the results for me. Is this possible? I'm on the East Coast and I think Onco lab is west? So there's transit time too.

6 weeks from date of surgery...
-
My Oncotype sample was sent on 05/24/2019. They received it 05/29/2019.
I received my results on 06/10/2019.
I was emailing my doctors asking for the results so I didn't have to wait for the appt. with the onco on 06/18/2019.
Waiting is the hardest part.

Gig -> I think it varies. For me, I had my surgery Aug 31 and had my results when I met with my MO for my post op follow-up on Sept 10th. Hopefully you will have your results at your appt. If not, ask if you can be called (if your comfortable with that) with the update as soon as they come in. Keep us posted.

Typically 2 weeks. Mine was was sent off after my Path report came back.
Waiting is brutal. When my BS’ office calledcwoth the results I started crying. My score was 11 so I dodged chemo. Had radiation instead.

Mine was about 3 weeks. I'd had the lumpectomy, which found a micromet in the sentinel node, and they were going to place a port at the re-excision surgery for tidying up margins. The oncotype came back the day before, saying I wouldn't need chemo. It felt like a reprieve from the governor.

Mastectomy April 6.
Met Medical Oncologist April 18. That is when he ordered Oncotype test.
Results April 27.
Good luck Gigibozo and please keep us posted

Mine was three weeks, but it had to be sent to the USA for the test and I live in Canada.

Me too Alice.

Thanks everyone. This waiting thing is getting old. I dealt with a lung cancer diagnosis ( thankfully stage 1 a) last year and a pulmonary sarcoidosis diagnosis in 2015 lasting into 2016 ( checking for cardiac Sarcoid which I didn’t have).I just want normal ( or at least my version of it). I’ll let you all know when I get the results.
-
Gigibozo, welcome to the multicrap club!

Had my followup appointment today with the breast surgeon. I'm healing well. Now Have the names of my MO and RO. I'll set up the appointmenst today. Still waiting for the oncotype score. BS said 7-10 days (today is day 8). Just want to know, so I can plan and get on with what to do next.
-
Gigibozo, you and I were diagnosed on the same day! You are ahead of me on the treatment path. My BMX is July 8. My pre-op with the PS is this afternoon, after which I'll update my signature.
After reading this thread I'm definitely going to ask if the Oncotype is sent off automatically, or if it goes out later.

My tumor (and I) had to wait for the surgical pathology to come back to ensure the nodes were clear and the margins were clear. Then it went. So that added about 5-6 days. The BS told me it would take two weeks, three on the outside, after arriving in California. It all depended on how long "the line" was. Well, it took a little over two weeks. Plus the five days. so yeah, long time. I tried to be buoyed by the favorable surgical pathology report while I waited. The nurse navigator called me the moment it came in.
-
So after waiting over two weeks, I called the surgeon’s office and talked to the PA. No test results. Then she called this morning to tell me that the test had been ordered, but nobody did the insurance approval! Said the medical assistant would get right on I t and update me when done. No phone call today and tomorrow is the holiday... ugh! What a waste of two weeks..anxiously waiting and wondering. In the meantime, I have my first appointment this coming Monday with MO and I won’t know my results. Feeling angry and down.
-
That sucks, Gigi. Damn. I don't blame you for being angry. The waiting is the hardest part and to know that a delay is because of human error makes it worse.
-
Happy,
I see you have surgery coming up in a few days. Best wishes to you! Be good to yourself. Rest and let others do for you.
-
Mine took 3 weeks, but part of that was because of the precertification process with the insurance company. Got my results yesterday, the score was 26 so I'll start chemo after my surgery.
I hope you get a low score
-
Mine took 2 weeks. The results came in one day before my first MO appointment. I was so grateful and blessed. A low score of 11 allowed me to dodge chemo.

After having to move my MO appointment to this coming Monday, I finally have my answer. PA called today. My Oncotype score is 36. Chance of recurrence without chemo is 24%. She said the rest can be gone over with the MO.
Can’t say I’m terribly surprised, but it’s still upsetting. Besides MOappointment, I have RO appointment on Wednesday. Hope my head can handle all that’s thrown at me.
Grateful for this weekend full of plans to keep me busy.
-
Ah, Gigibozo, sorry to hear about the score. Although as you said, it's not terribly surprising. Honestly, from what I've seen among the women here, with a 2 cm grade 3 tumor that is PR-, 36 is actually on the low side. So that's good, right?
Looking at the TAILORx charts, it appears that after chemo and with hormone therapy, your 24% risk will drop down to 10% or less. So what the score tells you is that these treatments really are worthwhile for you.
Good luck with chemo!
-
I second what Beesie stated. I got my Oncotype score last week from the MO over the phone, but we went over it in detail at my appt yesterday. My score was 26, with a 9 year risk of distant recurrence with Tamoxifen or AI at 16%. She said that adding chemo will drop that below 10%. It's all about knowing that we will actually benefit and be able to mitigate our risk of recurrence with Chemo.
Still doesn't make facing chemo that much easier....
-
I spoke with my surgeon this morning. I had one mass with clear margins, 1 was close. I really thought today would be
treatment planning. He said the Oncotype was sent out but it is not back. I don't see the RO until Aug 27th. The hurry up and wait is
super frustrating. I am healing from the lumpectomy and my sentinel node was negative. A mixed bag of news. I am trying to stay up!
-
Oncotype results usually take 2 weeks to come back. My BS called me with the results. That’s the only time I cried throughout the whole BC process. My score was 11 with an 8% chance of a recurrence. Because my score was low I was able to dodge chemo and did radiation instead.
Good luck. Keep us posted.
