Supplements with Estrogen Blockers
Hi Pink Sisters!
I was wondering which supplements your onco has advised you to take with your estrogen blockers (anastrazole, letrozole, etc.), if any? Can you also tell me how much of the supplement you take?
Thank you!

Mine only recommended D3 and Calcium. I did 1,000 IU of D3 and tried to increase Calcium through diet. Then I moved to a general "Bone Strength" supplement that has those plus a few other things. It has 770 mg of Calcium. (FWIW--I'm not a big fan of supplements in general.)

Hard to know what you may need without posting stats. Or any background info.
How you react to ALS or Tamoxifen varies wildly from stage of life you are in.

My oncologist recommends nothing for supplements and vitamins.
My integrative physician recommended Magnesium Glycenate, Vitamin D3 in oil. No difference after I took them for months.

I was looking for this topic, thank you. Sorry, I don't have my dosages with me right now. I started anastrazole 3 months ago and the side effects just kicked in the last couple of weeks. Leg cramps, knee pain, headaches.
My MO asked me to take Advil 3 times a day for the knee pain. That is a lot of ibuprofen.
I read on here to take MSM and I bought the powder and it helps! I saw a medicine a few days ago with Glucosamine/Chondroitin Sulfate, HCI (I'm not really sure if that is hydrochlorothiazide), and MSM and I bought that to take instead of drinking that powder, plus my glucosamine/chondroitin bottle was near empty, so two pills in one, yay! I drink a fizzy magnesium drink, Ionic Fizz Magnesium Plus, that comes in different flavors before I go to bed at night and that does help with leg cramps. I am also taking a potassium pill once a day and eating bananas to help with the cramps. Walmart also sells a leg cramp medicine that contains quinine. My MO suggested I drink tonic water for leg cramps (it contains quinine).
I have read on here that CoQ10/Ubiquinol is also something you can try. Someone on this site told me to try one thing at a time, so you know what works.
Also, I've read that name-brand Arimidex might have less side effects than anastrazole. You can purchase name-brand from Eagle Pharmacy in Florida for $60 (it was $30 up until last week).
I will be getting my next anastrazole prescription from the manufacturer, Teva, as I have read on this board they have less side effects. Walgreens is able to obtain the Teva brand where I live.
Let me also share this post from the triple positive board:
For those experiencing side effects on assorted aromatase inhibitor drugs, you might find that switching manufacturers of the same generic, switching to the name brand, or switching to a different drug can alleviate some side effects. Generally, finding the fewest additives and fillers works the best, but that is not universal. Here is a tool, previously posted by coachvicky, for determining which manufacturer add what, and also a link for the name brand Arimidex, not paid for through insurance, but rather supplied directly, for $60 per month.
