radiation and hot flashes

Hi all- I finished radiation 4 weeks ago
and strangely, after being post menopausal
for 10 years, am having those
dreaded brow sweating hot flashes-
havent had that since going thru menopause-
just wondering if any post rad ladies
out there have experienced this-
I just dont know if its from the radiation
or not- or if some other random event
is going on-

    Are you taking Tamoxifen or any sort of AI? It's hard to remember, so many faces and I know that I've seen you around. So forgive me if you've mentioned this somewhere already. :)

    If so, those can still cause hot flashes I believe, even in post menopausal women if I'm not mistaken.

    I don't think I experienced any hot flashes from my RADs treatments, although I think I covered most of them during my time there. Uggh.

    Anyway, I'm very sorry this is going on. Hopefully they will pass or ease up a bit in the coming days.

    thx for your response- i forgot to mention
    the fact that i am not on tamoxifen
    ( ......still on the fence on that one
    stage/grade 1b - low risk of recurrence).
    But its funny, i feel like I am-
    ( maybe i have been reading too
    much about tamixifen in post
    menopausal women in my fruitless
    efforts to find peace in a decision)...
    But these hot flashes are never ending
    so i plan to get to bottom of this-
    if it happened during or shortly theresfter
    radiation would be a more likely
    connection- been 10 years since
    i had a hot flash- anyways-
    gonna look in to this more

    I sure hope you can get to the bottom of the reappearance of the hot flashes. That definitely has to a bit unnerving for you, to say the least. Keep us posted.

    And yep, you remembered correctly. I'm waiting to get scheduled for a DEXA scan and then will be starting Lupron + Arimidex sometime in July. Thanks for your kind wishes! I hope they come true, lol I could use a break from SEs. :)
