I am 51ys and I get a mammogram yearly with no issues. This year was my first 3D mammogram and today I got a call from my doctors office saying they want me to come back in for additional imaging. Has this happened to anyone else.

Yes, because the tissue layers can overlap in funny ways under compression using tomosynthesis, I required extra views with my first one. They want to establish a good baseline for comparison in the future so don't worry unless another modality such as ultrasound is suggested. Even then, there's probably no big reason for concern...

9 chances in 10 it's nothing to worry about, but definitely go in for the follow up

I called and they said it's a small dense spot in my right breast. If it's the spot I'm thinking about it's been there for over 10 years and the specialist they sent me to 10 years ago and said it was nothing And he said he wasn't worried about it. I go back in July 9th. And then again it might be a new spot.

bizcax, yes this happened to me exactly. My First 3D also. It sees alot more so I got additional views plus an ultrasound. I have new microcalcifications which will be biopsied tomorrow, but also have an architectural distortion which now needs an MRI to evaluate after my first biopsy is done because ultrasound couldnt see it well. I am also very dense. Its all very scary (especially for me-I have bad family history w bc) and all the waiting for appts and results is truly is the worst part for me. Hang in there. Yours could mean nothing. Years ago in my 30s I required an MRI due to something they saw-may have been a density. MRI found it to be an area of benign fibrocystic changes. They dont have that MRI anymore so this radiologist couldnt compare but its old anyway. Hopefully they are seeing the same thing as before. Maybe the same in your case. Seeing something that really doesnt mean anything bad. Im hoping I wont need a second biopsy using MRI on the distortion, but its possible for me.
