Pathology report questions

Hi. I had a lumpectomy last Thursday. i fortunately received my pathology report on Monday. No nodal involvement and clear margins!

I am wondering why Ancillary studies (ER, P, HER2) are just listed as previously reported from the core needle biopsy and not tested again from the tumor sample. Is this common practice? Would the results not be expected to change? Should I ask my surgeon for these tests to be done on the tumor?

Also, does anyone know what this means: "Histologic Type Comments: Tumor is relatively demarcated with brisk lymphoplasmacytic response" Nurse on phone didn't seem to know. Maybe not significant?

Thanks

Yes, I'd want the double check. Mine did come back a couple days after the surgical report. I even had an outside second opinion as I've heard that's not a bad idea.

Very likely a timing thing - sounds like you haven’t got the full pathology report yet which takes longer. Demarcated histology is referring to rumour grade I think - sounds like good news, lower grade. The other phrase looks weird it may be referring to lymphocytes that indicate immune response?? I may be far wrong there - never heard of that before on a bc path report. Presume you have surgeon or onc follow up to explain. Sounds lovely he you’re getting through and doing well sonhang on in there!
