BiRad 4C
Hi, folks.
I'm up tonight... have to get a Stereotactic Biopsy done today. I've never had one done before. This is all new. I did, however, look up BiRad 4C... it's not looking too good for me, so far as it being benign, is it?

It's all a matter of perspective! My Birads was 5, so that's 95% malignant. 4C still has substantial odds of being benign.
Good luck with your procedure today. This early waiting part is hard. Hopefully you'll have a definitive and good answer soon, but either way it tends to get better emotionally once you have more information about what's going on. Unfortunately, that can take a while. If it is cancer or pre-cancer, you'll deal with it and we will be there for you. But you have a really meaningful chance that it's not.

Ella, we're sorry you are here and worried, but wanted to say welcome! Good luck with results and please, come back to let us know how you're doing, We are thinking of you, and sending you gentle hugs.

Hoping results are benign. Please keep us posted. Waiting is the hardest part!

I agree, waiting is by far the hardest part. Good luck with your test. Fingers crossed it is benign.

Waiting sucks! Good luck!

How did the biopsy go? Thinking of you. ❤️

Hello, all.
Thank you so much for the replies - I appreciate it v. much! xo
The biopsy went alright, except for a few things. The most notable being that I had to get 3 biopsies, and the last one was... an experience, in trying to get the bit the radiologist wanted. We tried, we turned, we twisted... and nothin'. It wasn't working, it the image was simply not enough for her to get that last biopsy at this time. It wasn't for lack of trying!
For now, essentially, the plan is to see what the results are re: the two biopsies. Those first two were the ones she was most concerned about, anyway.
The impression from the mammogram that got this thing started was this...
Impression: Three stereotactic biopsies are recommended, one of a grouping of pleomorphic calcifications in the upper central left breast, one biopsy of a cluster of microcalcifications in the medial central slightly upper right breast, and a third biopsy is recommended of calcifications in the central medial right breast that are in a linear distribution...
BI-RADS Catagory 4C: Suspicious: High Suspicion for malignancy...
There was a real misstep on the part of my GPs office, I have to say. I got a phone call from their office, the reminder of the biopsy, and the person on the phone told me that I would be hearing from them as soon as they knew anything -- and that I would have the preliminary biopsy results phone call, either the night of the biopsy, or certainly, by the day after. I was surprised by this, but what did I know. Of course, not hearing from their office and on pins and needles, I finally call the GPs office to see if they have the results. It was then explained to me that they wouldn't, "until the end of this week, or next week." OK...
There are really no words for how I feel right now. Up and down... I don't know.
Thank you all so much again, for the warm welcome and kind words.

The waiting is so hard.

The waiting is definitely hard. I am taking the phone with me, everywhere. I hope to find out before the weekend, you know?
Radiologist has told me it looks like a 50/50 chance, in her estimation.
xo -
Yes, I do know. If you get the news before the weekend, then you can rejoice and feel your feelings in the case of good news or begin the process of figuring out what this means for you and feel your feelings in the case of bad news.

Got the call. DCIS, right breast. (90% ER+, 50% PGR, ??? they don't know the rest; Solid Type <--this is all they told me on the phone, I had to ask).
This is, of course, only so far. There is still that biopsy that was not collected, also on the right breast... that is still an unknown. I readily admit, it frightens me. It really does.
But, I did get the call of the results thus far, that we know of, and wanted to update for sure.
Referrals have been sent for appointments with a surgeon and oncologist, next.

Hi Ella7, sorry to hear your news. Just wanted to respond w/support. I know it must be scary. I have a stereotactic biopsy next week using mammo then an mri and possible mri biopsy on a second area later. I wondered how it worked if you need more than one separate type of biopsy if the first area ends up needing a lumpectomy. Seems to me they still need to biopsy your other area? But if its in same side maybe surgeon would just address? Hugs to you ❤️

Ugh I'm sorry
The beginning is so frightening. I hope everything proceeds as smoothly as possible and that it stays in situ.
-
I'm wondering about that, myself. I have no clue, I'm hoping that it'll be with the surgery (it's on the same side), and not an additional, separate procedure. I'll see the surgeon on July 2.
The surgeon comes highly recommended from what they say, which is good, but at the same time, the woman on the phone I talked to when making the appointment said the she (the surgeon) is a straight shooter that doesn't mince words, and "some people can't handle that". Makes me wonder a little bit. Erm. It'll be interesting to find out.
Thanks for hugs
-
Thank you so much for the kind words. It's very appreciated. All the very best to you, Salamandra.

I see the surgeon on July 2 for the first time. The oncologist the following day, also for the first time. So here we go, eh?
I'm thinking that since I've been diagnosed (somewhat), I better hotfoot it out of this here subforum... section... thingy.
