It varies by individual but I think *most* women find taking it earlier in the day, with food, works best. Some women have had issues sleeping when they take it later. There are a bunch of us who eased into it. I took it every other day for about three weeks and my SEs have not been too bad.

I take it right after my morning coffee. I remember staring at intensely on the first day. It has been 18 months straight without skipping.

I've been on anastrozole for just over 1 year now and I have been very fortunate in that I've not experienced any side effects. I take it in the morning. I was most concerned about loss of bone density, which is something you can't really feel! So I was very happy to find out that my bone density has not been affected by the medication -- as shown by my dexascan 2 weeks ago. My sister-in-law had been on it for 2 years with no real problems, so I was hoping for a similar experience.

Everyone is different, and I know many women do suffer terrible side effects. I am fortunate, but at the same time feel awful for those who suffer. I thought you'd want to know that it is possible that you can take the medication and not have a bad experience.

    Wishing you the best.

Trem with fear am beginning anastrozole today. MO said every other day for a month. Then, I'll start every day on July 13, my son's -gasp- 59th birthday. Have read so much and, of course, am terrified of SE's at 85, Is there any consensus on when is the best time to take this fearsome, hopefully helpful, little pill- morning, night, afternoon?§

I take mine the same time daily which is late morning, I always make share to have a nibble of something before taking it so my stomach isn't empty. I do have a lot of joint pain when I wake up in the morning and if I've been sitting for awhile. I workout rigorously 5 days a week so the pain clearly isn't debilitating , but it does take a few minutes to get my bones and joints warmed up. Its nothing that will make me stop taking the pill though, Happy to be alive and want to live along time. I have two children 19 and 17 I want to be here for high school graduation, college graduation, weddings, grand babies etc. And hell lets be honest I want to see what I look like when I'm a lil old lady:) lol

Good Luck and Happy Early Birthday to your son.

Take it when you will remember it. If you have other morning meds, then is a good time. Some ladies feel it disturbs their sleep, so take it at night.

If you do get se, most will resolve in a few months. If they are unbearable, talk to your MO, there are other AIs to try.

I just started taking Anastrozole in early June 2019 and so far have no SE to report.

I take mine an hour before bedtime while I'm watching TV.

It has not interfered with my sleep.

I figure any side effects can take place during the 7 or 8 hours while I am sound asleep.
