Online Book Club

I decided to start a book club, online, specifically for books that touch on breast cancer (fiction or non-fiction). I realized that I want to read these books but have few people to talk to about them in my every day life. So online seems perfect. I set up a poll on my blog to see what book to start with ... if you're interested, I'd love to have other breastcancer.org readers join me!

Thanks guys ... hope to see you there!

Karen, I just have to participate. For one, I love to read. For another, my best friend from junior high, and still today, is also named Karen Lynch! I voted and would love to participate. I also am in an online book club from Myspace. Can't read too many books.

Yippee! I'm so glad Beth. Look forward to having you there.

(The nurse at my gyn/onc's office was named Karen Lynch. My mother, also a patient there, would get phone calls from her. She's day, "this is Karen Lynch, the nurse, not your daughter." Or I'd call the office and say, "this is Karen Lynch, the patient, not the nurse." Anyway, that's my funny Karen Lynch story!)

    Hi!
I would love to join your on-line club! I am a retired Reading/Elem Ed teacher and have time now. I do travel out-of-town to care for elderly parents(no internet access). But,have always loved reading since the age of 5! That was a while back!!!LOL

I checked out The Breast Blog, but didn't vote. Just let me know what's decided upon, and I'll join you.

I just finished to bc books. Both of them were gifts: Saving Graces by Elizabeth Edwards and Cancer Vixen by Marisa Acocella Marchetto. Edwards' book was more about the death of here son than bc. She really didn't share that much about her personal journey. Cancer Vixen is a hard bound comic style book. I really liked that one.

    Hi everyone,
I just checked out your blog, karenmary and voted. Like Laura said,I found Elizabeth Edwards' book to be abt her life and less abt the bc battle. Although, very interesting and another Tarheel,I voted for another book. I am really excited abt this club! Thanks for organizing it and I am going to order a few books from Amazon right now! That is my fav on-line spot for spending the $ these days!!! LOL

Your blog is awesome! Thanks for sharing it with us.

    ------
All the best and I will be checking w/you when I am in town and will catch-up on my reading when internet access is not available.

OK, so I'd like to join an on-line book, specifically on BC- what are we reading?

Hi Christine, Hi Anne! I'm organizing this book club on my blog, The Breast Blog. Click on the link below my signature and you'll get to the page. Right now we're voting on the first BC related book; once the votes are in (within the next few days) I'll post the 'winner' and we'll start reading! Then, in a few weeks, we'll start a blog-style conversation.

    Can't wait!

    Thanks all ...

Karen, just saw this, checked out your blog and thanks for the time you've put into this. It's been added to my "favorites". Have requested the books you've recommended from the library and can't wait until they are in.
