I am having nipple sparing mastectomy of both breasts in July. I know you lose your sexual sensations, but do your nipples still react to cold, touch etc? What are your experiences

I am almost a year out from my nipple sparing mastectomy. Mine don't react to anything. But I believe there are a few women who do experience some level of nerve regeneration. It wouldn't be much if it happens.

Neesie, I have still have slight response when intimate with my husband. I'll spare you the details lol. Definite response to temperature changes. It took getting used to implants feeling cold sometimes. Not feeling cold in my body but if I were to adjust my bra and touch they may feel really cold. It's odd to explain. In the winter I definitely noticed them feeling cold.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. You will find much support here, so ask away. Hugs

No sensation of any kind. I wear padded bras not because I need more volume there but rather to get some protection because I wouldn’t feel if somebody stabbed me there lo

muska, I took my bra off one night only to find a damn cheerio stuck to my chest that had fallen down my shirt. It had been there all day. Left a beautiful dent till the next day. Probably should wear a bib at breakfast.

neesie, yes. I had a very good cosmetic outcome. My incisions are inframammary so they are hidden in the crease. You will find much support here. I'm sorry you are going through this.

I have no nipple reaction but I do think my breasts look nice. I had immediate pre-pec implants they looked very much like my real breasts. I then had radiation on one side and it is a little tighter now but still looks pretty good

rah, cheerios and peanut shells are my problem!

Lego, I'm glad you are pleased with your results too. This whole journey sucks but I was thankful that I was a candidate for nipple sparing. Many women dont get the option.

Depending on the top I wear it's nice to go braless at times too

I have quite a bit of sensation in comparison to others. My nips react normally. The sensation is a bit hypersensitive on the nips themselves. However the areas of the medial breasts are very sensitive, and it feels very nice when lightly touched in that area.

So sorry you are going through this.

Yay VegGal! Happy that you won the foob lottery on that!

Neesie - as some others have said, my cosmetic result is very nice. My PS gave me a small size upgrade during the procedure because I figured if I have to do this I might as well create some cleavage. So I really cannot complain too much. It was interesting to wake up with a new set after my surgery (I was direct to implant). My best to you sorry you have to walk this path.

I had nipple sparing on one breast only, as my other one is healthy. I decided to keep the healthy one cuz I had no genetic markers, and because I wanted one breast, still, that had sensation.

It's weird..my foob can feel pain but nothing else. I guess I had some nerve re-generation, but not in a good way :( My last bf was kind of rough on my girls, and I finally had to tell him to lay off the foob, as it was REALLY hurting..

When I first got my surgery, it was so weird to have that side be completely NUMB. I didn't think I would ever get used to it. I'm totally used to it now, though.

Every once in a while I get little stabby pains here and there in it. I am due for a follow-up visit with my plastic surgeon. Also, I want to ask him if anything can be done for some denting I get at weird angles.

Hi Neesie70! I'm sorry you're going through this. I had my nipple sparring mastectomy back in 2012, and I truly feel fortunate that I was able to keep the nips. They react to cold. They stand up at touch. They feel sore when my period is about to start (it was very sporadic on tamoxifen, so I had no idea it was about to start until one nipple got sore). No sexual sensation I'm sorry to say. But that doesn't mean sex becomes a big dud. With boobies that look 20 years younger, everything else in the bedroom is spiced up 😃

    LOL at the cheerio! 😆
