Low grade fever -concerned about metastatic disease
I had a low-grade fever last week. It was around 99.4 up to about 100.1. I think it went away or I didn't notice it I felt OK the rest of the week and then yesterday About a week later I felt a little bit off. I took another temperature reading and it was about the same 99.4 to 99.80 or 100 even. Called the oncologist and she said not to worry. Said to go to my primary and get seen by them. It's been a year since my last primary care visit.
Had a mamo yesterday and ultrasound and all is well there. Had an mri of breast in December and all is well. Have had a CT scan every year for last two years and a nodule in my chest hasn't grown. So they're not concerned. I wonder if the off and on low grade fever is a symptom of metastatic cancer somewhere in the body. I don't feel any other symptoms except maybe some soreness in my back but I'm on arimidex and have been told I will be sore. Anyone know if I would have a low grade fever off and on but no other symptoms with metastatic cancer ? Should I discuss getting a blood test ?

Do you have any tummy issues? (could be some kind of bug) or sinus issues (sinus infection). Even an early UTI could start with fever. Fever is usually infection. I hope you can find out what the cause is. Do come back and update us.

There are many things it could be. I would check with my Primary Doctor and have some blood work done. I had PET/ CT last Monday they are sending me back to breast surgeon. Something about uptake in Thorax. I told MO I was scheduling my reconstruction surgery for September and he said to wait on that.

wallycat- funny you should say that. Just had to leave my sons baseball game because of a stomach issue. Hoping that’s what it is. Going to primary next week.

scaredashell07...so sorry you are having low grade fevers. In general fever is more indicative of infection not metastasis. I agree you should see your primary doc for some bloodwork. Good luck and keep us posted.

beep7bop- let us know how you are. Low grade fever back today.

It is definitely most likely a sign of some sort of infection...it could be a UTI (some do not show other symptoms), a skin infection somewhere, GI issue, etc. I would see your GP.

I have an autoimmune illness that gives me low grade fevers when it flares up.
