About two or three weeks ago, I noticed a red bump on the underside of my breast that resembled a pimple. I joked with my husband that it looked like a second nipple. But I figured it was nothing, so I didn't pay it much attention. Last night, my breast was itching a lot. I lifted my breast and saw that the bump was now black and I had a slight rash. I went to the doctor first thing this morning and she said it looked like a bug bite or an abscess. She poked it with a needle and squeezed it which produced dark red, almost black discharge. She gave me oral antibiotics and antibiotic cream. I felt relieved at first, but after a few hours I started feeling stabbing pains and more itching. When I walked without support, it felt like someone had punched me in the breast. In looking at the area, I saw that the rash was redder and bumpy and there was a new large bump near my nipple that looked the same as the first bump was originally. I called the doctor and she said to apply the ointment to the whole area and if it wasn't better in 2-3 days, to call her and she would prescribe a different antibiotic. I had a friend who died from IBC and that is what keeps coming to mind. Maybe I'm just being a hypochondriac, but I know that time is of the essence if something like that is going on and waiting 2-3 days and trying another antibiotic could be downright dangerous. I have pictures but for some reason can't post them. Can someone tell me what they think might be going on?
