Pain after excision biopsy

Had excision biopsy 3 days ago for FEA. Only taking bra off to change clothes and once to shower yesterday. The pain while changing clothes and showering is excruciating. My husband had to dress me after showering due to the pain and my tears. Called breast surgeon, who just downplayed everything. There's a mild flush developing around my strip bandages. The area is slightly warm. I do not have a fever.

Stinging pain on skin surface plus burning pain inside if I move or sit a certain way. My anxiety is going through the roof.

I am so sorry for you pain.

I had a peri-areola incision when I had my excisional biopsy and for a solid 3 weeks I had a nagging burning sensation to the area (it kind of felt like a pack of house mice were gnawing on my nipple), but it was NOT as severe as you are experiencing. If you are still in this much pain tomorrow I would absolutely ask to be seen by your breast surgeon to make sure nothing is amiss and to discuss better pain control options. I hope it is better soon!

Thank you for your concern! I went to the Urgent Care Center which is part of the same large medical group as my breast surgeon, who I hope to see tomorrow. In the meantime I was prescribed antibiotics from the Urgent Care Center doctor. He also prescribed some pain medication but I will stick to Advil for now because pain meds often don't agree with me.

Hi Oddsocks, I just wanted to share my experience with FEA. In my case FEA was only that, FEA, nothing more serious was found. I really wish the same for you.

Sorry you are having pain, you will get better with the antibiotics.

    Hugs
