Day 31 on Anastrozole have I seen the worst of it
So far I'm experiencing joint pain and stiffness in pretty much all of my joints, knees etc, especially when I first wake up or get up from a sitting position. I work out rigorously 5 days week so that helps a lot. And Ive noticed vaginal dryness towards the opening of my vagina during insertion but internally so far so good. I am using replenish a couple times a week and am having sex regularly with my husband(even though he gets on my nerves sometimes lol) I will start using a lubricant to help with insertion though. So far these are things I can manage. Should I still be waiting for the ball to drop from out under me or is this as bad as it will get? I think during this whole time the side effect I've been most afraid of is vaginal dryness...After 31 days of it being in my system could this be the peak of my side effects

Hi there. I will try to answer your question until someone else comes along. Everyone is different. Some experience side effects getting better as time goes by and some worse. Hopefully yours will get better. Good luck and keep us posted.

It took my body about 3 months to adjust; but other than what you described, the only other SE my body had to adjust to was some hot flashes. The fact that you are working out (in the bedroom too) is really, really going to help minimize any potenial side effects. Good for you!

Hi Toyamjj, would you mind providing an update? I am switching to Anastrozole next month (after being on Tamoxofin since 9/2017). I did great on Tamoxofin, no SEs at all, so I'm a bit bummed to be switching. Have your SEs on Anastrozole eased up? Thanks in advance!

TSue,
Day 32 of taking anastrozole I can honestly say my biggest and noticeable side effect is joint and muscle soreness, I notice it when I’ve been sitting and go to stand up and when walking up steps etc. the joint stiffness is to the point that you may even hear me moan as I go to stand BUT once I get moving I’m fine, so it’s not debilitating. I’m very active and it hasn’t slowed me down one bit. I’ve also been receiving monthly Lupron shots for the past 4 months so maybe the combination of the two drugs are causing It but I don’t remember the joint pain really kicking in till I got on anastrozole. My hot flashes thankfully have been so mild that I’ve questioned weather or not it was actually a hot flash, they are hot flashes lol, but it’s so mild its not bothersome. Lastly I have some vaginal dryness upon insertion but I’m hoping lubricant will stop that because so far the dryness seems to just be externally. These have been my only side effects and so far it’s not anything I’d consider coming off the drug for.

I feel like my side effects have intensified some- I've gone from questionable to real hot flashes, dryness got a little worse- but nothing too horrible. I'm about three months into anastrazole. So there may be some worsening but hopefully it stays manageable.

I have a feeling that the 3 month mark will be the true test for me too, I will be sure to update all!

Hi! Great thread!
I have been on anastrozole for almost three weeks. After week one, I began to feel bone achiness/stiffness. I love Zumba and I find the beginning of each class, it takes me a while to loosen up. A couple of days, I needed to take advil to be able to cope with the discomfort. I am hoping that my body will adjust to this drug in my system and this discomfort will ease up. It seems every day is a new adventure!!!

Hello All,
I am on day 3 and just beginning to feel some SE's. I woke up with left heel pain, and all day I have been tired as if I didnt sleep last night. Yet I slept through the night. So we begin with the SE's. I am on my last type of AI that I can take so this one has to work.
thanks everyone for the great comments and helpful tips.
