Mass and calcs?

My mom just told me she needs a biopsy after mammo said she has a mass and calcifications. I don't know how many calcs or if it's all one collective thing with the mass. Does mass+calcifications mean more possibility wise than just calcifications? I've read 80% of biopsies for calcs are negative but...I can't find anything on masses.

I'm sorry that she has to take the extra step of the biopsy, but it's the only sure way to identify the mass. There is a rating on the mammogram from 1 to 4, you might check what the radiologist rated it. Make sure someone goes with her to the biopsy and get her to take a xanax before she has it.

At the biopsy it was pretty obvious to me that my mass was cancer, and my blood pressure went so high they thought I was stroking out. No, just nervous.

    I have a similar situation with a BIRADS 4

6.8 mm solid nodule with calcifications is seen in the 3:00 position of the left breast

BI-RADS category 4 -Suspicious Finding Biopsy should be considered

I think just a prayerful and patient approach is best. My doctor moved quick from the mammogram, to the spot magnification view mammogram, ultrasound, and the upcoming biopsy. But, I have horrible genes in regard to cancer.

Your mama is probably good genes wise. Be patient. I've been googling like a madwoman to no real end.
