Symptoms
I am a 62 year old woman, who has a clear discharge from left breast. I noticed it when doing my BSE in March. It only happens when squeezed, but of course, have been checking daily, and noticed it happening a few times a month. I have a strange tingly feeling also, but no lumps or redness. I did have a problem with an uncomfortable underwire shortly before all of this started. I am going to see my family physician next week. I am so afraid that it is cancer. Does or did anyone else have these issues bonfire being diagnosed? Could this be caused by anything else?

Good Morning djmammo,
I just had a 3D diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. The radiologist said no masses and the ducts look clear. I will be following up with my GP to get her opinion on the next steps. What would you suggest for my plan of action? Thank you
-
The radiology report should contain a recommendation at the end. What was that recommendation?
-
I don't have the report. I will check with my GP. I just wondered if you had any suggestions.
djmammo, just got the report:
My GP is referring me to a breast specialist. There is no report on right breast, should I assume that is okay also?
This patient's mammogram was interpreted with the assistance of CAD. Digital breast tomosynthesis (3D) imaging was performed.
BREAST DENSITY: The breasts are heterogeneously dense, which may obscure small masses
DIGITAL MAMMO FINDINGS: There are no dominant masses, suspicious microcalcifications or unexplained architectural distortion to suggest malignancy.
LEFT BREAST US FINDINGS: US evaluation shows no evidence of cyst, solid lesion or other abnormality.
IMPRESSION: Bi-RADS Category 1-Negative
RECOMMENDATION: Annual mammography. Clinical follow-up of the nipple discharge is recommended.
-
Post it when you have it. I can supplement or explain their recommendations but not without their complete report(s). The types of exams available for followup should be in that article I suggested.
-
djmammo I just posted my report. Thanks for any input.

DJ Mammo: I have an appointment with a BS on July 1. Do you think that is too long to wait? TIA
-
Thats a normal report. Your docs must feel comfortable with you waiting til then since no abnormality was seen on your imaging. At that appointment ask them if they would order a ductogram. If there is a tiny nodule in the duct they ought to be able to see it on that exam.

That’s the earliest I could get an appointment. The doctor is highly regarded here in Austin. Thank you so much for your help
