Hi I've had this unusual tender sore feeling when I press on my left nipple for the past 5 days. It is localized to the whole nipple including the areola. I have no redness or swelling that I can see. I normally don't worry about this stuff but breast cancer does run in my family. Does this sound like breast cancer? Or is this something else

Mammograms are also the gold standard for male breast symptoms. See your doctor, and ask if that would be the way to go with your symptoms. Do you feel a lump? Medication, both prescription and recreational, is the most frequent cause of breast enlargement/lumpiness in men.

Male breast cancer represents 1 of every 100 cases of breast cancer in the US.

Thank you for the reply djmammo. I don't feel any lumps at all. Just pain under the nipple. I'm not taking any medication prescribed or recreational. I read that usually breast cancer lumps aren't painful. I also read there is a form of breast cancer that doesn't cause a lump and is painful call inflammatory breast cancer

Welcome to the forum Newhere88. As you say, pain is not usually associated with breast cancer. Certainly IBC does not sound possible given your symptoms. In the five years I’ve been replying to young guys like yourself, I’ve never had one come back and report a diagnosis for this disease. Of course, you will want to confirm this, and likely only a doctor can give you the assurance you want.
