Gummies vs. Silicone

Hi all! I have read that silicone implants are softer than gummy implants. My PS only uses round gummies, no tear shaped or silicone. I had my reconstruction surgery about 6 months ago, over the muscle, round overfilled gummies. I am very happy with the appearance and so I feel a bit silly complaining, but they are pretty hard. I did one round of fat grafting in November. Maybe a second round would help? Just wondering if anyone has swapped theirs out and noticed a difference. Thank you!!!!

taragervaise - I have round gummy implants and it took several months for them to soften up. I think maybe around month 8 or so if I recall correctly. You may want to check with your PS they can give you a more exact answer. Massage also helps to loosen things up as you heal. I had some adhesion issues so I was seeing an oncological massage therapist. But gentle massage with soap or an oil in the shower can help. I am 11 months out and I can finally lay down on my stomach without feeling like I am laying on rocks so it does improve!

Thank you for your reply!!!! Are yours above the muscle, or under?

    Hi,

Gummies are silicone! They are a true cohesive silicone gel. Non-gummies are also made from a cohesive silicone gel, but less firm than the gummies. Neither will be runny if ruptured, as in the old days. I have had cohesive silicone implants, not gummies, for almost eight years. My memory is fuzzy so I can't tell you when it happened, but they are considerably softer now, but still firm. Give it time as 6 months is still recent

Thank you! Yes, sorry, I didn't have the right terminology! Thank you for your input. I do feel like they've gotten a little softer and I will definitely try massaging.

Taragervais - mine are "sub plane". The bulk of the implant is over muscle with exception of the leading edge in the center of the chest. There my PS tucked about 1/8 of the implant under some chest muscle in order to have a smoother look. I always thought I was completely over the muscle until she told me about it. I hope time and gentle massage do the trick and things soften up for you. Its no fun having rocks on your chest, I know.
