Hi Everybody, About three weeks ago I found a large lump on the bottom side of my left breast almost at the bra line. I went today and had a NP do a examination, she has set me up for a dx mammogram for next Wed. I'm 53 and breast cancer runs in my family. Mother dx with colon cancer at 42 and then breast cancer at 54. Her only sister was also dx in her late fifties . The NP said the lump does not seem to feel like breast tissue, I don't know what that could mean, She said it's around 1 cm and is hard and doesn't seem like it moves also no pain. I'm hoping its a cyst, which I have never had one before, I had a mammogram last Sept and it was fine, I would like to ask if anyone has had a lump this far down that turned out to be cancer. Thanks for reading and giving any insight .

My cysts hurt and my cancer didn't. Location can be anywhere on the breast or under the arm. You're taking the right steps.

Thank you for replying, I really did not want to go the Dr today, I kept hoping it would just go away..lol...I'm glad I've got the process started.

Just a update, I had my mammogram last Wed. I do not have the results yet, The lady that did the mammogram was great, she kept at it trying to get good pics of mass since its almost in the IMF fold. Still pretty worried, she let me see the images after she took each one, to me it didn't look like a cyst. She said a ultra sound would be next. Hope to hear something tomorrow.

I still do not have results of mammogram , but they did call me today to come in tomorrow for a ultrasound. Are they any questions I should be prepared to ask during the ultrasound? Thanks for any information or input. Will update after procedure.

The ultrasound is done by a technician, so I don't know if they can answer too many questions. The young woman who did mine did talk me through the procedure very nicely, and she, the radiologist, and a nurse were SO nice during the biopsy that followed - I felt like I was among old friends.

I had my ultrasound today, no results yet. I did get a copy of my mammogram report that they did last Wed. I have a appointment next Tuesday to go over the test results.

    My mammogram report

Exam type 3D/2D Bilateral Diagnostic Mammogram

    Comparison 8/14/18

Clinical History Left breast mass at 5:00

Findings Parenchymal pattern is unchanged, again showing minimal fibroglandular tissue in as essentilly symmetric fashion. At 5:00 12 cm from the nipple, and indistinctly marginated oval mass measuring 15 x 15 by at least 19 mm is noted. This corresponds to the area of patient identified palpable abnormality. Internal architecture is inhomogeneous , No suspicious calcifications. Some architectural distortion appears present. No other focal abnormalities.

Impression assessment is incomplete. Recommend limited left breast sonogram

    Bi-Rads Category

0 Incomplete - Need Additional Imaging Evaluation

Breast Composition A. The breasts are almost entirely fatty.
