Mammogram showed skin thickening on breast

I have spent hours looking for this issue. My wife (47 years old) went for mammogram after feeling a 1 inch “rubbery" mass on her left breast (she thinks it has been there about a month). The mammogram showed skin thickening over most of the breast. We went for a punch biopsy 2 days ago. No other symptoms of IBS at this point. However I am very concerned because after a lot of research it seems that we have just caught this before other symptoms will come to light. Is this the normal progression of IBS. No to mention I cannot find here or anywhere what else this could be, pretty nervous

Lots of things cause skin thickening that aren’t cancer

Do you know what some of these things could be? My wife went to the dermatologist today and she told my wife that her breast does not look it's a dermatological issue. She has the thickening skin and dilated pores.This is why I am concerned. Is this how IBC works? In other words do you see the skin issues first followed by the other symptoms? What else could this be?

I don't know, but it sounds like the dermatologist ruled out dermatological things. Did she do a skin biopsy?

Yes a skin punch biopsy this past Tuesday. 7-10 day wait for results. The waiting is tough
