Well I have been lurking since March 23rd when I got call to have diagnostic mammo. I was really hoping the lump would be benign once it was biopsied - alas I was wrong. Ironically I feel great. In early March I joined that online program Noom and I overhauled my eating habits and revamped my exercise --have lost almost 20 pounds from my new good habits and then - diagnosed with IDC Stage 1A.

Currently, I don't feel bad, I'm not crying, I'm not depressed. I can't wait to get my genetic results back (in 2 weeks) so I can decide treatment, If I have BRCA then everything must go and I am truly fine with that- the prospect of losing my hair is what sticks in my craw the most. I really appreciate this website because it allowed me to read posts from other women and get the scoop on all things BC related --and that education is already paying off in discussions with my doctors-

I know I have a long way to go, but I tell myself, you ran a couple of marathons, you can use the skills you learned from that to make it through the gauntlet of treatment. My number one goal is to be myself, be positive (that's my blood type so I have an edge on positivity LOL) , don't hide and do everything I can do to reduce my chance of a reoccurrence.

So Hi all!

I would request a mammoprint or oncodx test regardless of where you are BRCA1 or 2. You are both er and pr positive and if you are her2 negative definitely get that test before you decide treatment.

Yep agree- waiting to get HER results and waiting for my period to show up so I can get MRI --and will also have oncodx test.

Welcome! Not a club you might choose but full of feisty ladies

You're not necessarily going to lose your hair. You may or may not need chemo. If you do need it, some combos don't cause complete hair loss (CMF does not, I had some thinning noticeable only to me and my husband). Cold caps also help a lot of women with the hair loss.

Sounds like you have a wonderful attitude that will help you get through it all. And if some days you don't, don't beat yourself up about it either. I doubt it's possible to be positive all the way through the cancer experience, although I will say I've felt more profound gratitude at various points in my journey than I think I've felt before in life. As you learn more about your diagnosis and your treatments you'll probably find some good, specific threads to join in.

Thanks 2002, I like to control what I can control and have lots of info. I spend most of the time btwn the Diagnostic Mammo /Ultrasound and getting my diagnosis --it was almost a month -- dwelling on worst case scenarios and doom and gloom - didn't help, but hopefully I got that mostly out of my system. So far I have found that all the medical personnel I have encountered are fantastic (hope that continues)
