Stressed and worried to extreme

Hi everyone,

So I'm 23 and for the past year I had few episodes where my left breast would hurt bad for few days but I always dismissed it from sports just pulling a muscle. But now I am no longer doing sports cause university is taking the majority of my time and this pain came back. It's on my lefts side breast and armpit, almost feels hot and aching/painful but not when I touch it or compare to my other body parts. It also feels a bit swollen and although I couldn't find any lumps to be honest what do I know I'm not a health professional. I have registered with my uni GP but honestly they are usually useless and I'm worried they'll dismiss me again. I also been getting headaches from getting really bad tension in neck like 3 or 4 times a week and been drinking aspirin and the GP said nothing was wrong.

So basically here I am freaking out with these symptoms pretty much convinced myself I have breast cancer or even IBC itself (which I know is unusual in my age but also I'm unlucky on anything to do with health). I simply cannot find any rational reason for these symptoms and I'm scared and can't sleep at night. My friends have been trying to rationalise it for me which I'm grateful for but none of my female friends had these symptoms so I cannot help but think something is wrong with me.

Am I loosing it for no reason?

You are not obligated to diagnose this yourself. See a doctor, any doctor. If they cannot answer your questions they can refer you to someone who can. Many symptoms of IBC affect the skin so a dermatologist would be appropriate, they also do the necessary skin biopsies.

This is a good site regarding IBC: https://www.cancer.gov/types/breast/ibc-fact-sheet#q1

Ask your doctor to recommend something for your anxiety that will not affect your school work.

    Hi Blueberrycoffee,

We're so sorry you're here and worrying. As djmammo points out, it's always best to consult your doctor. Your young age makes it very unlikely that this is anything malignant, let alone very rare IBC.

Please keep us posted with what you find out.

    Hi,

So I had a check yesterday with a GP, he found lo lumps or anything which is great news. But he couldn't explain my pain either. So at the moment the plan is to see if it will go away in next 2 weeks and I'll have a check up again. If it won't be going away he'll send me to breast clinic, but we are not at that road yet.

I also wanted to say to the guy who replied, I appreciate your reply and the website that yous send. But you have no idea how scary it is to think something is wrong like that when you are only 23 and have relatives who has breast cancer. This is my first breast cancer scare and my family is not as affectionate or supportive so I have to support myself.

    Have a lovely day
