Please, please, please look into Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy ( HBOT) at a Wound Care Center. Most Plastic Surgeon's are pretty CLUELESS when it come to dehiscence and poor wound healing. I had infections twice, took a literal Cups worth of pus off my chest twice. Then I stopped believing the PS, and sought out a Wound Care Center at my local hospital. I then got several HBOT treatments along with IV Vitamin C at my Naturopath. Finally everything healed.

HBOT was covered by insurance when you have difficult to heal wounds. Makes an AMAZING difference. I suffered all that time, when I should have gone to HBOT after the first infection. Way faster healing with HBOT, than with a wound vac. Trust me, been there done that. Your PS's know about cutting/stitching. They know very little about the specialized field of wound care. They should admit that.

    hey.

Can anyone do any updates on their wounds now its been a year plus for them? Mine opened at 3 weeks post op. Mainly because a scab got stuck to my shirt.. but it was tinyish til PS said to put dressing on entire scab and the othe parts of scab fell off. Been doing silverdene dressing changes 2x a day but I feel like last night it opened more, I could kind of feel the tearing. Definitely not huge like I saw in the pictures in this post but im sure you all started small and got larger. Im so afraid it won't close since I feel it's only getting worse. Tomorrow i see PS hopefully get this last drain out and find out if maybe they can stitch it closed because this dressing changes is annoying. The visiting nurse helps when she comes but not every day all day of course. She's not sure if its infected or not because its yellowish but she said sometimes that is the body just healing inside out. I just dont want it to get worse. It does hurt but not crazy. Also because I have almost no sensation on the incision line.

But would be nice to hear how everyone went
