A month before my 49th birthday. IDC with a 9 cm tumor! Had 4 rounds of A/C, bilateral mast. w/recons., 4 rounds of Taxol and now in midst of radiation. I love these boards, they really help me feel that I'm not alone and that many of the feelings I'm going through are normal.

Just diagnosed. Am 43 and never had a serious illness in my life, did not smoke or drink.

I was diagnosed on 7/13/06 with stage IIa/IIb idc (two separate tumors, one in each breast) when i was 35. I had bilateral mastectomies two days after I turned 36. Finishing up rads and will have full hyst on 2/20...not looking forward to that surgery. I am blessed to have one beautiful son and many, many friends.

Dx at age 59 with Stage IV mets to bone. No lumps, no bumps, no nothing. 30 years of clear mammograms. No history of cancer in family of any kind. Go figure!
-
I was diagnosed at age 51 with DCIS. I had my lumpectomy a few days before my 52nd birthday and the nurse said, "Happy birthday." It's nearly four years later and I'm fine now.

I was 44, and did the whole surgery/reconstr./ 6months of AC/Taxol. Now I'm on femara with a few side effects. I'm alive! Saw my girls graduate highschool! I'm happy to have good medical care.
-
I was diagnosed 3 1/2 years ago with Stage 1 at age 56. Did lumpectomy and radiation, and tamoxifen. Unbelievable, but I'm still pre-menapausal!
-
I was 39 when diagnosed on 6/5/06, three weeks before we moved out of our tiny house and into our dream home. I was numb through the whole thing instead of happy, even though we worked so hard for our new house. Stage 1 IDC, triple negative grade 3.
-
I was 70 when the lump was found; still am. Big surprise as there had never been cancer in my family before. I think it was the hormones I took for too long. I've had the lumpectomy, axillary dissection and just had my first chemo, 1 of 4. My lump was caught early. I was lucky as it had been 18 months since a mammogram because of a hernia operation in August 06. I'm doing OK, dealing with fatigue but am thinking positive. Judy

I am 45 DX 2/9/2007 IDC Stage 1 Intermediate Grade
-
55 - Diagnosed May 2006, Stage 3, Grade 3, tumor 10 cms, 5 nodes positive, total mastectomy. Having second mastectomy in two weeks.
-
I'm 66 - will be 67 in less than 2 weeks.
I was diagnosed on Feb 15, had a bilateral mastectomy on 2/22 and am still trying to learn and absorb all of it. I'm Stage II and HER2 strongly positive.
I always had regular mammoygrams. "I" found the lump in Oct 2006, was already scheduled for the mammoygram in November, so told my dr and they marked the lump. Mammoygram report came back - all is fine, not to worry - just fibercystic stuff. The more I thought about that the more I was concerned that everything was NOT fine.
Went to a different Gyn in early Feb - he ordered an immediate ultrasound and the Radiologist scheduled a needle biospy.
The tumor was 4 cm with cancer in the Sentinal node on the left side.
Needless to say, at this point in my life, I'm NOT a fan of mammoygrams. I have no idea if it was the actuall mammoygram or the Radiologist who read it - maybe one day I'll find out.
First Oncologist visit is March 7 so hopefully I'll know more about what future treatment he thinks will best benefit me. I'm definitely doing my homework and will have lots of questions.
I took birth control pills for about 12 years when they first came out. Then took harmone replacement therapy for over 10 years - until the cancer scare a few years ago. I'll never know for sure if those actions contributed to my cancer (never any history in my family), but it sure looks suspicious.
I'm learning a lot on these boards and appreciate those who have posted information. -
I was 37 DX ILC 7/6/05. I had left mast. 5 months chemo, 1 year of Herceptin. Finished in Oct 06. On Lupron and Tamoxifen now. Moving right along.
-

It was 2 weeks after my 47th birthday when I got my first dx in 2000 of Stage II IDC. Second dx at age 52 in 2005 of Stage III ILC opposite breast.
