Hi everyone,

I developed an open lesion on my left breast about 2 months ago, it progressively got worse and developed into a rash from the bandages I put on it. I went to my primary care doctor and was prescribed a fungal cream. It made the lesion and rash subside, and then I was appointed to a breast specialist. I had an ultrasound on the breast and everything came out normal and she said that I most likely did not have IBC. I was prescribed a steroidal cream and told to schedule a follow up appointment. The rash is faint now, but not gone. Today I noticed visible small, thin blood vessels all around the rash. I have no idea what is going on and I am really scared. I am scheduled for a punch biopsy if the rash does not completely go away. Should I be concerned of IBC or is it most likely something else?

any advice/ reassurance is appreciated!

IBC is rare so the odds are in your favor. But if your rash is not going away or looks concerning go ahead with the punch biopsy & follow up appointment. Consider getting a second opinion if you're not comfortable with you current breast specialist.
