Developing Asymmetry

Hello all,

I am 50 years old. My mother is a breast cancer survivor.

Over the last two months I had pain in my breast. It often feels like a cramp, pulling and twisting sensation. A mammogram was done (3D bilateral CC and MLO and 2D bilateral CC and MLO) last week and a letter has been sent to me that there was a finding. I asked my physician for the report and it said that I have a 2.9 cm possible developing asymmetry (inner central left breast, middle third depth, 8 cm from nipple).

What can I say, I am worried. Previous mammograms were always ok and last year I did a Thermo Scan, which didn't show anything. I now have to do another 3D mammogram next month.

Can someone please cheer me up a bit? Even though I know that this result means nothing I hope somebody comes forward telling me that the chances that this could be breast cancer are minimal. Is a 2.9 cm large developing asymmetry considered large?

Thanks so much, I force myself not to think about it but I just can't stop.
