Time frame from lumpectomy to mastectomy?

I had my lumpectomy with mastopexy on 4/12, it was not successful and I now need a bilateral mastectomy (path reports show a lot more IDC than initially thought). Just wondering if anyone knows the time frame for that? Do I recover from this surgery for a few weeks? months? I'll see my surgeon Tues, and I'll know for sure, just wondering if anyone out there had any experience with this situation. My daughter is graduating HS early May and I'm trying to sort out how much help I will need with the party etc..

    I had 3-4 weeks between surgeries. A lot of that just had to do with the need to get results and schedule the next surgery. If you go in Tuesday, they'll probably be able to schedule you for a week or two later. If you want reconstruction, it may take 4 weeks or longer to find a date that works for both your breast surgeon and plastic surgeon. Definitely get help with the party - most people are happy to do something to help. You'll have to prep for the surgery, too - not too big a deal but it takes time and mindshare

    Alto, thank you so much for the feedback. I will make some phone calls today to get some extra help on hand. In the mean time I'm doing as much prepping and planning as I can. get the cake ordered etc.. It'll give me something to do instead of worrying. Have a nice weekend.
