Bone pain and clogged ear
Hi, I have been having pain in my upper left arm (humerus) that is constant and I really feel it at rest. It has been about two weeks now. In addition, I have lymphedema in my left arm (cancer side) and above my clavicle. I get a MLD every week to help keep it under control, but my ear has been getting clogged on and off for about a month, but now it is constant. I have even MLD to my ear and neck and have been using Flonase (just in case it's allergies), and doing nasal irrigation.
My MO has requested a PET/CT, but they can't get me in until the week of the 29th. I have major scanxiety already and now I have to wait two more weeks. Any advice for the waiting time? Ideas about how to unclog my ear? I just need someone who understands what I'm going through. I feel so alone.

Have you had your ear flushed to make sure it's not external? If that does not help, then ask your doc if sometihing like a decongestant might help.
-
I would see an ENT (ear, nose, throat specialist) about the ear.

Thankbyou Kbeee and ShetlandPony, for your responses. I have an appointment with my ENT on April 30th and my PET was just scheduled for Monday, the 22nd.
I tried a decongestant for a couple of weeks and it did not make a difference, but I will see what the ENT says. My ear popped once today, but it is plugged again. I saw my GP about 2 months ago, when this first started and she looked in my ear and said it looked perfect. At least I have SOMETHING that looks perfect I also have tinnitus in my left ear and didn’t realize it was one-sided until today. We’ll see what they say.

LuvMyFam, I've had the same stuff with my ear. For me, I just go to the ENT doc and he unclogs it. Mine is always ear wax and it can really impact.
-
Thank you, Cowgirl. I feel better about it now. I hope my ENT can get it unclogged quickly.
-
It's really fast. Do it soon as it can affect your balance a little when its all clogged up.

Hi Shetland Pony! Missed you for awhile.
I feel like there is water in my ears all the time. Also runny nose for a long time. What did the ENT say? I thought it was from the Proton radiation. Onc checked and ears are fine.
How are you doing?

Ilene, I hope you find an easy fix. An antihistamine, perhaps?
My lymphedema therapist is going to talk to my ENT doc and see if he can get me in sooner. Benefits of living in a small town-everyone knows each other.

Hi, Ilene! Nice to “see” you. Yeah, I go every few months to have the ENT pull the clog out of my ears; they were like that before bc. But I figure that with all the treatments we’ve had, there are going to be annoying things like watering eyes or runny noses. My bathroom cabinet has something for every orifice of my body, lol. But I’m doing well and I hope you are too.

I have never been so excited to go to the ENT! I just want my ear unclogged!

My PET was clear! My left shoulder is a little atrophied, maybe that’s why my upper left arm hurts.
Now, waiting on the ENT appointment, hopefully it’s just wax

Great news!

LuvMyFam, Congratulations on the clear PET! I hope your visit with the ENT is illuminating and provides an easy solution.
(Hope you don't mind my chiming in; I was looking for posts by others with ear and neck issues.)

My ENT says that it is allergies. He prescribed me to take Flonase 2x/day and irrigate my nose. I feel better just knowing nothing is wrong. I hope this helps others.

Great news!
