Has anyone or does anyone know if you can still develop Lymphedema even if nodes weren't biopsied or removed? I had Right Breast Lumpectomy on Dec 20 1018 without node biopsies. The last week I started noticing a bit of pain and slight swelling on my right arm. Today after gardening and moving around mulch my arm was clearly swollen. I've been searching everywhere for information on this and only come up with the chances of LE happening after nodes removal/biopsy. Has anyone had this occur with just surgery alone?

I did have a lot of swelling and Seroma after and my nodes hurt, but they didn't touch them.

Thanks for the help!

I don't have LE, but I heard that trauma to the body can cause LE -- surgery isn't the only cause.

But what I really wanted to mention is a swollen arm can be caused by a blood clot. I had a swollen left arm with a little discomfort. My MO sent me for a US and they found a blood clot (DVT) near my chemo port.

So consult your Dr. if the swelling doesn't go away.

    Good luck!

I already had an ultrasound of the arm. No blood Clot. I did have a ton of swelling from surgery though.
