I was at the Doctor's this week and my blood pressure is up even with the hydrochlorizide that I am taking I still am wrestling with managing it. She did up my daily dose. I have been going to a yoga class offered for BC survivors each week and try to walk everyday. Still am having a hard time getting to the 10,000 step mark though. I am 72yo and had my surgery (IDC, Stage one, in May of 2017, w/two more re-exsion surgeries, in June and Aug of the same year. 21 radiations and opted out of Arimedix, after reading the side effects vs. benefits.) Can't loose weight and was considering the DASH diet along with the walking and yoga. But, it's becoming more difficult for me to follow a restrictive diet. Any advice would truly help.

The DASH diet and Mediterranean-style diets are not particularly restrictive. DASH is recommended for heart health in particular, but would also be good from an overall health standpoint. Both have similar emphasis on fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy, less (or no) red meat, fish and poultry. DASH focuses on reducing sodium intake, which might be good for your high blood pressure. Also reduce sugar and starchy carbs. ALL this is good for you, and tasty! :)

You can find lots of resources on these online or at your library. If you need more help, you might ask for a referral to a registered dietician. My local grocery stores contract with dieticians, so they aren't hard to find.

It's been a while since you posted. I hope you've found some solutions that work for you. Good luck.
