WTF. Biopsy 4/4 showed invasive cancer in skin and mastectomy scar. Same side (left) as last 2 Dx (2004 and 2010). Also ER+, PR+ and HER- again.

CT scan and bone scan sched for tomw. Praying that it’s only in that tiny (6mm) lump I found 2 weeks ago.

Mostly feeling anxious and angry. Not telling my kids (12 and 15) til I know what treatment looks like.

Sending love to all who are in this swamp.

Bone and CT scans today. Then a treatment plan. MO mentioned possible radiation treatment, which I had on the same side (left) in 2004. Have had skin sparing BMX since then. Has anyone had rads on the same side more than once? I’m concerned about damage to ribs, etc.

    Thanks,

    Jodi

Bone scan was clean!!!  Waiting for CT results.  Concerned about very high lymphocytes, too.  Always something new to worry about.  Ugh.  Still haven't told my kids yet.  Hoping for treatment plan ASAP.

mom2e, I'm sorry you're dealing with this again! I just wanted to respond because I did have rads on the same side twice, about a year apart. Going through it the second time was comparable to how it was the first time - I did pretty well during radiation both times.

I'm about a year out from my second course of rads now, and I haven't had any major problems come up yet. I do have some mild rib pain, which may or may not be due to radiation. I also started developing some very mild lymphedema recently, which also may or may not be due to radiation. Either way, I don't regret doing radiation a second time, and I'm just glad the skin metastasis is gone!

Do find a radiation oncologist you really like and trust. I'm hoping the best for you as you come up with a treatment plan.

Thanks, buttonsmachine. I had severe burns from rads in 2004, and intermittent severe pain that lasted for years (ribs on that side are still tender), so I’m worried about another round. On the other hand, I’d walk on hot coals to get rid of this crap.

CT scan results were generally good, but I need a renal u/s and lymph node biopsy on the OTHER side (wth?). Also checking high lymphocytes - had flow cytometry blood test today. Ugh.
