Question about post-core biopsy

I had my ultrasound guided core biopsy on Friday April 5. I was advised to keep a bra on overnight (I actually kept one on for over 48 hours) and not to remove the bandage for four days (today is day 4 and I removed it this evening).

Only slight yellow bruising so far, but it almost looks like there is a small incision and is still bleeding a tiny bit. I put a Band-Aid back on to protect it.

I'm still having achy discomfort. How long does that last? What about the scant bleeding? The paperwork only said to worry if there was a lot of bleeding and to take Tylenol for pain (which I am).

Just wondering what others experiences were like.

I do remember I was given very small ice packs and would put those into my bra as well and it did help ease the pain as well. I was sore for I bet a week. I think it could also depend on where it was located and how deep they went how sore you get as well.

My biopsy discharge instructions are as follows (only listing what pertains to your post):

If bleeding occurs, hold pressure for 10 minutes.

Tylenol may be used for the next 3 days, after that, Aspirin, Motrin, Advil and other over the counter Ibuprofen or Naproxin may be used.

Wear a sport or support bra for at least three days.

A separate paper says to expect breast tenderness, bruising/swelling and slight bleeding. There are no time frames mentioned.

I would not hesitate to call the office that my procedure was performed at if I had a question.

I did not experience that, but my incision was glued so it stayed covered longer. If it's just slight drainage you are probably fine keeping it dry and covered. However, there is no harm in calling to ask. Honestly, if I had blood coming out of mine 2 days later I would call just to see if they wanted me to come in.

Thank you for the replies. I suspect part of the issue was actually removing the bandage. No further bleeding has occurred since last night. I still have swelling (my cupeth runeth over 😆) and some discomfort, but improved from yesterday.

Thank you for checking in on me
