High Bilirubin and moderate amount of fluid in pelvic area

Options

Last week I got really sick with abdominal pains so bad I could hardly walk.  I got a transvaginal ultrasound and bloodwork done.  My bilirubin was 3.4 and never had any liver problems in the past.  Going to see a GI doctor this Friday.  There was also a moderate amount of fluid in pelvic cavity with no other signs of cysts or tumors. Went to a gynecologist and she wants the ultrasound repeated in 4 weeks.  She wasn't my favorite dr.  I felt that she was rushed and only was kind of mad that I wasn't thrilled that a speculum was inside.  It was a year ago in December I finished up with a year of Herceptin. Since mid November I went from 178 to 133 pounds.  I don't really care about eating at all.  I sleep on a recliner and when I am reading just having a book on my belly hurts.  Not to put the cart before the horse does this seem like it could be liver Mets.  I had DCIS in 2013 and Stage I 2016.  Just trying to be proactive.    Also my belly is bloated it looks like I am 4 months pregnant if I stand sideways

lillialskye, we're sorry you have to be here and worried, but wanted to send you a warm welcome to the BC.org forums. We can't really help with your question (hopefully someone will see your post and weigh in with their thoughts soon) but it's good that you're being proactive and go get those changes checked by a doctor. The waiting is really hard, we all know, but you're not alone here in this wonderful Community!

Good luck, and let us know what you learn next Friday!

    Best,

I am sorry you are dealing with this. Hoping the liver doc orders tests to get to the bottom of it. Hoping it is something completely unrelated to cancer.

I would have the labs re-run. Labs can make mistakes. If you are still ovulating, you could have had a burst cyst which is causing the fluid so that may be why they want a repeat ultrasound before panic sets in.

If your liver is causing the fluid build up (ascites), I am no doctor, but would think your other liver labs would be off too. Do you still have your gallbladder? Gallstone flares can cause some of what you describe. I'm glad you are being monitored and there will be follow up. Keep us posted. We're here for you. Sending good thoughts!
