Gardening, anyone?

This is what I am waiting for this year - we don't plant until they show up.

I posted this in Facebook yesterday...

One year later...God is still in charge...

Today, the Pink Survivor Tulips return. After narrowly surviving an animal attack last year, they are unimaginably stronger and more beautiful than one could ever hope for.

We can learn from these Tulips...even when we experience those things we cannot possibly survive, God is in charge. He decides when we stay and when we go from this world.

If we are allowed to stay a little longer, to enjoy another spring, to see these Survivor Tulips slowly bloom once more...we can choose how to experience that Heavenly Gift of more time...with worry or fear or angst over when this Heavenly Gift will end...OR...we can breathe in the spring air, feel the long-awaited warmth of the sun on our face, hear the birds serenely singing all around us...

God the amazing artist, who gives us Pink Survivor Tulips, is in charge. We can emerge stronger and more beautiful than one can ever hope for...if we choose to...

I struggled mightily to plant 60+ tulip bulbs in the fall of 2017 (pre-MBC dx)...my first flowerbed EVER...

Hummingbird moth in the gardens today

We found some tiny white crocuses in the church's garden after Mass today. The tulip leaves are showing. A nasty snowstorm is predicted midweek.

melissadallas- April of 2004, my mother ,friend and myself did a 2-week driving trip through parts of Texas . The bluebonnets we're awe inspiring. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing the picture and bringing back so many good memories.

I went to TX in the DFW area in the 1980s and used to go on the weekends when I lived there out into the country to see the bluebonnet meadows every April. It is hard to describe to people, beautiful blue carpet of flowers like nothing else you have ever seen!

Two hobbies- the flower is a purple pin cushion.

I actually got buzzed by a real hummingbird today. First time I have seen one, they are early this year. I put out the feeder.

kiki- I have always wanted to see cherry blossoms bloom in DC. Even though my last two trips to DC were in April the cherry blossoms had finished. Your pictures are beautiful. Thank you for sharing

Kiki, beautifull cherry blossoms!! I was lucky enough to be there for cherry blooming once too... My only trip to the US 🙂

My garden is showing the first spring flowers, but we have a very cold weather right now. I think we will wait about a month to see cherries in bloom.

Can't plant here yet, but my lilac bush is getting leaves on it!

Melissa - my mother so loved those bluebonnets. She was born in Temple, Texas and my sister and one brother and I were born in Fort Worth, Texas. We moved to Louisiana when I was a baby. I live in Tennessee now. Every trip we made back to Texas to see my grandparents my mother made my dad stop on the highway so she could pick those flowers. She even had a beautiful framed picture of bluebonnets. They are gorgeous!

My BIL and Sis and I were stewing on how to get my garden out of the swamp. Neighbor came by, and we decided how to do it. I will have to call the property manager tomorrow and get her OK.

I have a narrow garden because of mobility issues (even pre-Taxol), one end is mint with a piece of siding to keep it in control. The rest of the garden is wet--Tom pointed out how the water from higher areas drains into it, and he was proposing a 2x4 to block the drainage. He didn't think my neighbor's idea of putting a ditch in the middle to hold the drainage would work. Neighbor came by and it became a 4-way discussion. We decided to put grass seed on the regular garden, and put in a new garden on the other side of the mint garden.

He will do the work, so that won't be a problem. It might even be good news for the guys who mow, who were complaining about the narrow strip between the two gardens.

We have cherry blossoms.
