Direct to implant
My name is Patty. Dx DCIS, close margins. Am waiting for call back from scheduler for date of direct to implant surgery. Question for you... how long postoperative before you could resume your NORMAL activities? I like to work out, bike ride and run. Don't get me wrong, I am blessed to only have DCIS. Didn't want radiation. Small breasted to start with, so opted for skin sparing direct to implant. But I am very active. The weather is starting to get nice here in Michigan. Just wondering how long I will be sidelined. I will do what they tell me, just hoping restrictions aren't to awful ! Hope allare doing well 💕

Hi there. I had direct to implant reconstruction with my BMX. You seem much more active than I am but I would say 6 weeks for gentle excecise and 8-10 weeks for more strenuous exercise. However everyone is different and heals in their own time.

thanks dtad appreciate your input. Helps to hear others recovery stories ❣️ Hope you are doing well !

I am extremely fit and active and my PS gave me clearance after my BMX with direct to implant for unrestricted legs at 3 weeks (cycling, running, body weight squats, yoga etc) and all restrictions were lifted at 4 weeks. I worked with a lymphedema PT to work back up to lifting heavy weights to minimize my risk of getting lymphedema. I had no complications and healed quickly. Generally, the fitter you are, the quicker you will bounce back. Are you getting sub-pec or pre-pec placement (under or over)

thanks downdog... I was getting a little depressed thinking it would be months of restrictions. I mean, I will do what I’m told, just getting antsy to get my life back. Not sure about the under/ over yet, I will find out more details next week. Did you have under or over

sagelady I had a double nipple sparing direct to implant. I was not a high intensity workout person (but I am fit as I live on a farm) so my recovery has been slower. I had some issues with cording and PMPS, so initially it was 8 weeks before I was allowed to lift heavier weights. But my recovery back to full steam has been about 7 months. Ironically enough, that recovery fueled by going to the local gym and starting exercise classes. So I think you truly fit ladies definitely bounce back faster. I do like downdog's approach to have a lymphedema PT help you progress on heavier weights. I am still very careful with that paranoid that I will trigger something.
My foobs are sub plane. Mostly over pec muscle but she did stretch a small amount of muscle over the leading edge in the middle of my chest. Kind of makes a sharp "V" of pec muscle in the cleavage area. My PS did this because I am so thin and she wanted a prettier transition there. I think that added a little time to my recovery as that change was instant. Came out very nice.

thanks for the share Rah... you ladies are all rock stars in my book. A lot of brave strong women here . Proud to be a part. I only hope I am as brave as all of you going forward 💕
