Very concerned about IBC
Hi everyone,
I am 27 years old and have recently been experiencing some really scary symptoms. It started out as a type of wound/sore on my left breast. I put some neosporin on it hoping after awhile it would go away. But it's gotten larger. There are now red streaks and bumps from where I have been putting the bandaid, so it looks so much worse now. I went to my primary care physician and she prescribed me a fungal cream, which I'm not sure if it's working or not. It's been about 3 days of use. She also referred me to a breast clinic and said she "wants me to be seen quickly"
I have googled symptoms of inflammatory breast cancer and I don't have any swelling, dimpling, or pain. Nothing going on with my nipple. My breast is itchy and just a lot of redness that looks like a horrendous rash, plus the sore. I am waiting until my insurance kicks in on monday to go to the breast clinic. But I am so so scared. I don't know if I should prepare myself for a cancer diagnosis or not... I feel really left in the dark, and can't find answers anywhere. I am so afraid that it is the worst case scenario...
Any advice would help so much, thank You!

Getting rid of a skin fungus with antifungal creams take a while to work, longer than antibiotic cream on a cut.
You may also be reacting to the bandaids, very common. Do you react elsewhere with bandaids?
If the breast imaging is negative check with a dermatologist, they can exclude IBC better than anyone.

I tested on the other breast and it does not react to band aids. And I am experiencing a slight amount of pain in the leftt breast now. I am scared and frustrated because no matter where I look I cannot find answers. I have an appointment in one week to have a second examination, I'm just really scared and don't know how to prepare myself.

How long has this been going on all together?
Has it gotten worse everyday since it started?
What answers do you expect to find on line?
When your doctor gave you the antifungal cream did you tell them IBC was your biggest concern?
-
It's been going on for about 4 weeks. I would say it has gotten progressively worse.
I told the doctor I was concerned about IBC and she said "Yeah... it looks a little different than IBC..."
but she has told me she wants me to be seen at the breast clinic quickly, so that is concerning.

When I had radiation, I had one place on my breast that reacted to tape but other spots were fine. So testing tape elsewhere doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Keep us in the loop. Let us know what the imaging shows.

Hi!
I am still waiting for my breast appointment. The referral was not sent through so I have to wait a few extra days, which is frustrating...
The fungal cream seems to be working. The open lesion has healed a lot from just a few days ago, and the redness has decreased as well. So, hopefully this is a good sign. Not sure if I should still be concerned of something more serious...
Waiting really is the worst part.

hello everyone, the other day after work I came home and took off my bra and had a rash the size of a small circle really red with a painful pimple in the middle. (I squeezed it and pus came out) grandmother died from breast cancer so I know I'm at risk. I'm 23 but I'm overweight and I read that plays a factor. The spot isn't as red but kind of looks like a hive. I don't have a primary care doctor but im currently looking. Does IBC normally start as a pimple? Or is it just a rash? No other issues like inverted nipple, no lumps that I can feel, I do sometimes get a tingle feeling in both breast. Anyone else experience this or can give some personals advice?

Ksy IBC does not present as a pus-filled pimple. It sounds more like hormonal acne, or maybe a boil from an infected hair follicle.
