Chemo efficacy based on treatment time of day

Hi. As I've posted earlier, Mom is going through treatment for TNBC IIB stage 3. We're going through AC now with T or clinical trial depending on response.

I've come across some information regarding how time of day when infusion is done can have an impact on efficacy and response (like morning versus afternoon or evening). This is due to circadian rhythm and daily cell cycle with the goal on attacking it when the cancer cells are least able to repair themselves. There have been a few studies that did show a difference but there hasn't been a whole lot of focus on this unfortunately.

I'm wondering if you guy have some input on this. What's the optimal time of day to have infusion?

Thanks.

I haven’t heard of time of day making a difference for chemo effectiveness. The chemo regimen I had took 4.5 hours, and the cancer center is only open so many hours each day, so the latest I could schedule a chemo cycle was noon. So if studies come out saying chemo works best late in the day, it wouldn’t have been an option for me unless the hospital decided to stay open late into the night.

My pathology showed complete tumor response to chemo. There were some cancer cells still found in a few nodes.

That's a new one on me...I certainly would not put too much stock or energy into that one.

    Good luck to your mom!
