Palpable Lump - Should I be worried

Options

I had a BMX in December for DCIS and now have a palpable lump at the exact location of the DCIS. I also just had fat grafting on 3/14, but this is not an area where fat was placed. My original DCIS was only a few mm, so highly unlikely this is a recurrence, right? Is this something I should be concerned about?

Any new lump needs to be evaluated. I have had several. Most turned out just fine; one turned out to be cancerous. So do not panic, but do get it evaluated. I would further suggest that you don't just have them palpate it, but request an ultrasound. Sometimes it can be a stitch; mine was scar tissue, but the one that turned out to be cancer, they were "sure was just scar tissue, but it felt exactly like my cancer originally had and my gut said cancer (which it had not with the other lumps) so I asked for further evaluation.

    Thanks KBee.

This is nowhere near my mastectomy scar. Hopefully this turns out to be nothing. I emailed my BS and suggested that my PS examines tomorrow when I see her and proceed with ultrasound if necessary. I see you are from Iowa....we are neighbors! I am from South Dakota!

Both of my cancerous lumps felt like frozen peas. The others all felt a little different. Not sure if that helps.

Hoping warm weather makes its way up to you in SD. This winter was horrible!!!

SDWoman, please let us know what you learn. We are on similar paths, and my heart skipped a beat reading your post- it is my greatest fear after having done all I could do, that I will be one of the small percentage of women who have recurrence and have to deal with this again. I'm sure you must feel a combination or fear and I don't know - exhaustion?- that you face even having to think about this again so soon.

Im grateful that this site and women like KBeee have taught me to be vigilant and push for answers. Thank you, KBeee, for always encouraging others to be their own advocates. And thank you for the frozen pea tip- since I didn't have a lump before, I don't know what it feels like.

SDWoman, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

PS felt that the lump was from my recent fat grafting and found others as well. She said breast massage should resolve these and then reevaluate in a month.
