Ultrasound guided biopsy tomorrow
Hi everyone, I'm scheduled for an ultrasound guided biopsy tomorrow & I'm a nervous wreck! I've had breast biopsies in the past but not an ultrasound guided one. My mammo was yesterday, so I'm very lucky to have an appt tomorrow. I know what it's like to have to wait weeks for the biopsy after the mammo. Anyway, my ultrasound report from yesterday says I have a new nodule in my left breast. Birads 4b. Has anyone else had this before? I'm a little concerned about the 4b rating since when I checked, it meant a moderate chance for breast cancer. My breast issues in the past were calcifications. I had a lumpectomy in 2010 & an excisional biopsy last May.
I really appreciate any feedback!

The ultrasound guided ones are the easiest! No big deal at all, and they are very quick. They'll just locate it again with the ultrasound, , numb you and then take some samples.

That makes me feel better! Thanks so much for the quick reply!

I had an ultrasound guided biopsy last month. So easy. If I needed to get another one in 10 minutes, that would be just fine. Please don't worry about the ultrasound guided

Thanks Natasha. I’m just worried about everything. Trying to keep busy. Been through this before & it gets harder everytime

I understand completely how paralyzing waiting is. It is real torture. I’m so sorry this is happening. I had a biopsy of two spots last month and received a Bi-Rad 4C rating. I was terrified. Both turned out to be benign. I can’t explain the relief. I have been on this site for several weeks now and have seen others with Bi-Rad 4C turn out to be benign.
My nurse navigator was a wealth of info. Your center will have a nurse navigator too. Mine said if the computer reads the mammogram and wants additional testing, the doctor will almost never go against what the computer said. She said the doctor will often order additional images without even looking at the mammogram. She also said all biopsies must be labeled a 4 for insurance to pay.

Thank you so much for your response Natasha. I can't tell you how much better it's made me feel. I've been so worried about the 4b rating. I can't sleep or eat or anything. My biopsy is today at 2:30. I've had a couple in the past so I don't know why I'm so nervous. I did have one where I felt the entire thing. I think that still haunts me. I'm sure it will go fine. I'm just ready to get there & get it over with. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I truly appreciate it.

Thank you so much Natasha! I should get the results tomorrow or Wednesday. Trying to stay busy and not think about it. You were right about the ultrasound guided biopsy. Definitely the easiest one!
