Scared! Please help!!!
hi I'm 36 years old. A couple of months ago I noticed the fatty part of my underarm was a little puffy. I didn't think much of it. Fast forward to now and my left breast is bigger and more tender. Some pain. I've seen 3 doctors and two said is was cysts and one is unsure. Waiting on a referral to get imaging.
I feel like having a nervous breakdown. My nerves are shot. I'm scared cause the puffiness is where the lymph nodes are. I don't have orange peel look or discharge. Idk if things are Breast cancer symptoms since everything I read mostly has women feeling lumps. Please help
I’m terrified also cause it seems like doctors are so careless with what they think it is. The gyno I went felt my breast said don’t worry it cysts and as I’m balling my eyes out she asks why I’m crying? Am I in danger or being abused. I said no I’m just really scared. I didn’t get much relief from her answer since she said it could be I drink a lot of caffeine.

I think one reason the Dr's are so casual is your age. It's very unusual for someone young like you to get B.C. So a lot of Dr's just dismiss your fears. There is a thing called fibrocystic breast syndrome, that can cause those symptoms. It's not cancer, and can be made worse by caffeine. I'm glad you are being referred to imaging, but really just to put your mind at rest. To me, ( not a doctor) it doesn't sound like cancer, but I understand your fears, so get it checked out. Could be an infection making your lymph nodes puffy. That's common. So try to calm yourself, the odds are way in favor of not cancer!💗

thank you so much for the response. Google can be evil. I guess I’m just confused how the breast pain kinda just started to be more noticeable and that the left breast is bigger than the right one. More so now.

Google can be SO evil!! You don’t always know how accurate the info is, and without a diagnosis you don’t know what is applicable to you. I would definitely push for the imaging referral, if only to put your mind at rest. If your doctor was super worried, they would’ve sent you for the imaging right away. Cali is right that the odds are in your favor. Take a deep breath, and try and take things one step at a time. Good luck

Lauren Jeanine,
Did you end up having imaging done? I have pain in a similar location (if I’m understanding, the inner part of your armpit... not the underside but where your arm rests against your outer breast). I’ve had periodic pain and discomfort in my right breast. The pain was sometimes at the nipple and I’ve now convinced myself it is tender along the lateral chest wall (side of body, near breast). Also on top of breast but I have a scar there. And in the Salem appts as you. I’m awaiting imaging...

I have and it all came back normal but no one can tell me why its hurting or what to do

sorry you haven't gotten any answers. This might sound stupid but try to cut out coke, coffee and tea see if it helps. You might also change under arm deoderate you use. Something is bothering it also do you wear wire bras. Try a wireless for a while see if that will help.

Keep a pain diary. Even if the pain is low.
Doctors can be dismissive of our self reports of our symptoms but if you can show them your paper trail of how it's interfering with your life, they should be more responsive, if for no other reason than to cover their ass.
I'm so glad you are cancer free. That is wonderful. But you deserve to understand what is going on that is causing you discomfort.
I'd maybe start back with you primary care doctor, if you like them. Bring them your pain diary and the list of all the specialists you've seen so far and what they've ruled out. Ask them if they have any ideas, or which specialist you should see next. Have them refer you, even if technically your insurance doesn't require it. The specialists take it more seriously. Go see the first specialist and follow that trail until it goes cold. If they don't solve it, go back to primary care and report back, and ask who you should see next.
That is all assuming that you're having pain or discomfort that is interfering with your life. If not, then since you've ruled out cancer, I think that you're ok to just assume that this is one of those weird things that bodies do that your body is doing now, and keep on eye on it for changes in one direction or another.
