I had to have another surgery (unrelated to BC) after lumpectomy and re-excision but before rads. Since I had to recover from that before starting rads, I was told a three month wait maximum - I think it could still be done, but perhaps not as effective results. But at my four week recovery mark, the rad office started calling to bug me to schedule the set-up, because that has to be done about a week before the sessions begin. So they seem to take the timing pretty seriously.

What genetic test takes that long? That's just ridiculous.

Cassie, I am just curious why genetic test results matter for radiation treatment. What is the connection

    hi Muska-

At mtg with radiologist it seemed that partial rad was perfect fir my situation but the prob was my family history...if i carry the gene, i would need full rad. so either wait on gene testing snd push

the rads firther out. or launch in with

full breast rad now. I chose to do the test but

now the wait is killing me and i envision

rogue cells exploring and dividing etc

    as i wait

    Hi Alice- thx for responding.

i hear the same thing- that starting rads

in the window of up to 12 weeks is ok.

however, i cant help but winder if i had

just gone ahead with full rad i’d

have started by now. So now as the clock ticks, i wonder if i made the right choice-more time for rogue cells to activate etc.... or if i just

need to calm down and believe the people

    who are obviously the expert

I had the full course of whole breast radiation, and five boosts at the end. Not a big deal except for it being tedious.
