Does collagen promote the spread of cancer?

Options

Hi,

I'm recovering from a lumpectomy for ER/PR+, HER- Stage 2 ILC (lymph nodes remove were clear, yay), and am scheduled to start 6 weeks of radiation in late April. At the natural food store today, an employee there mentioned that I should be careful about the protein powder I use and to avoid collagen because it may promote metastasis. I've been using Ancient Nutrition Keto Protein which is made with bone broth, and have been using a lot of bone broth lately for gut health and GERD. I Googled it but didn't find any recent (2018 or later) studies other than a short youtube video. from someone I haven't heard of. What are your thoughts? Should we be avoiding collagen for cancer recurrence?

I'm thinking the reasoning behind the fear is that collagen contains high levels of the amino acid glycine, and glycine is consumed by cancer cells disproportionately. Whether consuming reasonable amounts of collagen increases the risk of speeding up the growth or spread of an existing cancer is unknown. It's sort of like the sugar situation, where cancer cells metabolize sugar at a high rate. Does consuming sugar increase the growth of cancer? Not sure if anyone knows for sure.
