Today I had the post op.

And I was asked to massage for the cording. It is showing as a line on my breast.

I have to massage my breast and also at the incision.

Massaging at the arm pit incision is super painful.

That was cut 20 days ago. Does the massage open the incision?

I go to insert catheter tomorrow am and evening radio onco does x-ray.

After the insertion can I stil massage at the incision?

Catheter will be out by coming week Thursday. Do I have to wait until then.

I am worried if more scar tissue is going to form at the incision.

I might have to go see the chiro

I had cording. Was never told to massage it after surgery tho. About a month after surgery an occupational therapist worked with me. She 'popped' some cords and had me do a variety of exercises. She highly recommended gentle yoga stretches.

My sister just had BC surgery and has cording issues. She's working with a physical therapist to increase movement in her arm. Those dang cords shoot out like tough spider webs and make it so challenging but it can get better.

I'm not sure what a chiro would do with scar tissue/cording. Please talk to your oncologist and ask for a referral.

I would definitely get a referral to a massage therapist who is knowledgeable about cording. I developed it as well, was not sent to a therapist until about 12 weeks from surgery. Even with that delay she was able to help me release the cording and provided do at home exercises and stretches that facilitated my recovery.

Be gentle. Easy stretches. Have a good week.

I am fairly certain I have cording. It literally just started this weekend and I am just over a month post op. I started doing stretches, and taking ibuprofen. The stretches have helped greatly until it gets tight again. How do I know when to reach out to my doctor for this? And do I consult my breast surgeon or plastic surgeon?
