Arimidex and High Blood Pressure

Has anyone developed high blood pressure on Arimidex? My MO tried dismissing my high blood pressure in her office this week by saying "it's just because you are here". But I have also have had horrible dizziness on this med. So I made an appt. with my PCP to discuss this and other things my MO dismissed. PCP suggested I purchase a blood pressure machine and monitor at home. Well indeed my pressure readings are consistently high. Yes, I will follow-up with my PCP this week...

But it's very important I stay on an Al. with my markers. Has anyone had this situation and can you advise?

I have no history of high blood pressure, in fact it typically tracked low.

Arimidex..... I need you!! HALP!

Yes my blood pressure is high too....typically 145/85 or so. My Onc isn't worried and I don't really have any symptoms so it is all watch and wait for now.....

My BP used to be low too....

Hope you get some answers. I will be asking my Onc again in Jan when I see him....

Hi. I was searching for a post similar to this. I started zoledex and anastrozole 1 1/2 years ago. My blood pressure was low prior to treatment. However after being on this treatment - my blood pressure increased to 170/99 (ish). I had the same reaction from MO "It's just because you are here" --- blah blah blah. I went to my PCP for something completely unrelated and he diagnosed me with secondary hypertension. He said it was because of the cancer treatment....and I agree!!! My BP wasn't hing until these cancer treatments...and he noticed it.

I am seriously wondering if this treatment is worth it. In addition to the high BP, my cholesterol has increased, joint/bone pain and fatigue. I feel like I am 100 years old!!!!

    Sunsetcity-

My PCP had me get a blood pressure monitor and monitor at home. My blood pressure was always in low to normal range. I figured out after monitoring for a bit that caffeine was making my blood pressure spike off the charts. Now this was never an issue before Arimidex, so I not sure which to blame Arimidex or caffeine??

I actually dropped my dismissive oncologist and since Arimidex I believe is causing me a host of other problems, I'm taking a week off the stuff at the direction of my new MO to see if I get some relief from dizziness that is plaguing me the most !

I sympathize with you, have you tried any supplements for joint pain? I know both turmeric and glucosamine have helped me a lot!

What are they doing about your high blood pressure? My cholesterol is high too and I'm having it retested before we make determination what to do with that !

    Be in touch..
