Hi & cause? (Domperidone, karma, emotional wounds)

How long were you both on domperidone? What was your doseage? How long after were you diagnosed?

I took bucketfuls of domperidone for milk production for years (nursed for 4). If there really is an association I’m placing my bets on it.

My left breast was affected which happened to be my son’s favorite side for nursing. And without a doubt the tumor must have started growing while I was nursing him (had him at 38, dx at 47 - 7cm ILC).

I had a cyst for a few years in a different quadrant of the same breast. I had it monitored (only ultrasounds) over the years and was always told it was nothing. I never thought to request a biopsy. In May 2016 I had another control and I told the breast specialist that I had an itchy spot on the same breast in a different location and that I was concerned about the density of the breast. He told me it was totally NORMAL for breasts to become dense with age. He did his ultrasound and sent me on my way. I had a mammogram done in May 2017 which should everything all fine. In October 2017 I knew things weren't fine and an ultrasound picked up on the suspect area which was confirmed to be a problem only via 3d mammo.

How can I not wonder if the doctors had had a minimum of suspicion or adequate knowledge of ILC to suggest that I do controls years prior what my situation would be like today....

Hi. I was also recently diagnosed with IDC and DCIS in my right breast. I took Domperidone 3 years ago to help increase breast milk supply. I have been wondering myself if the medication could have contributed to development. I am a bit older at 50 (I had my baby at 46), and I am now overweight after I gained 50 lbs while taking the medication that I have not been able to lose yet. I don’t smoke, rarely drink, and have no genetic predisposition according to my genetic test results. I reported my diagnosis to the FDA site medwatch because I am wondering if this is an unknown risk with taking this medication. I took it knowing about the reported cardiovascular risks but there was no known increased risk for breast cancer or I would never have taken it. I waited so long for my baby and now I’m so scared I might leave him motherless.

We always try to understand the reason why and while this is normal we should not beat ourselves up about it. I had my first child at 32 and second at 36. Breastfed both. I was on a contraceptive pill for 10years + in between and often wonder if that was the cause. Did BRCA testing and that was negative, I'm fairly active and mostly healthy.

One day at a time...

I was diagnosed in September 2015 at the age of 36. I took Domperidone in 2012/13 when my daughter was having feeding issues and my milk supply was diminishing. I have always wondered if that drug caused my cancer. I too was young, healthy, slim, didn't smoke or drink, no family or genetic link to cancer. I'm 4 years a survivor in September and truly wish I could have definitive proof it was Domperidone. Thanks for sharing.

I had low milk supply and struggled to nurse all 3 of my babies. I took Domperidone with the last two, and it did help my milk supply but on month 4 of nursing my last babe I started to experience some pain on my right side and she refused to nurse. I thought it was a clogged duct and it ultimately ended our nursing journey. Now 4 months later, I’ve just been diagnosed with a high grade 4cm DCIS on that side, so I’m thinking that’s what was causing all of the pain and I can’t help but wonder if the Domperidone has anything to do with it. Unfortunately we may never know.
