3 years post radiation and still having sign effects

Options

hello ladies, just wanting to check in to see if I'm the only one.

I had a re-occurance in 2016 ... after surgically removing the lump my doctor thought best to not treat with chemo but radiation instead. I got a total of 30 treatments. Fast forward to now my treated breast is still shrinking and at times it gets very tight. Not sure what to do.

I should also mention the treated breast is a DIEP flap transfer. Is this happening to anyone else?

    I had radiation on my left breast back in 2012 for as many treatments as you and it is now smaller and much much firmer than my right breast to the point where it is uncomfortably tight. Same as you.I would get it looked at though just to be on the safe side because I have had other symptoms come up and have recently been diagnosed again. This past November with MBC.

    Thanks for responding. Sorry to hear of your most recent diagnose.

    My first time around in 2012 radiation had the same effect ... I think my flap can't manage the double wammy of radiation. =However, I will check it out. It can be sooo hopeless sometimes ... I truly don't know which way to turn. Do I stay on meds for the rest of my life or try to enjoy my quality of life. I mean they gave me chemo, burnt it out and i was on tamoxifen for 5 years ... which in the 4th year i had a reoccurance;

    I'm 41 and this has been a factor in my life since I was 32. I'm still confused :-(
