For those on oral bisphosphonates (such as Fosamax), did you choose daily or weekly and why? As usual, I'm on the fence about yet another decision looming before me. I'm trying to gather some actual real world wisdom from my bc sisters here.

I take Fosamax weekley and have had no issues at all. I initially tried Boniva which is a once per month pill and I hated it. The first month I actually thought I had food poisoning. I had severe vomiting and diarrhea for 9 days. When it happened again after the second dose I realized that it was from the drug. If you are a Sam's Plus member you can get both of these for very little $$.

When I was employed as a pharmacist, the vast majority of my bisphosphonate dispensing was for the weekly regimen. Picking the day most convenient for the individual’s schedule seemed to help with adherence - after taking the tablet with a full glass of water, you need to wait before eating and don’t lie down!

Hi FF, I'm on a generic once-a-week Fosamax. Have noticed some reflux, but is controlled with Tums. Will get my 2-yr bone scan later this year and will let y'all know if it's working!

I take mine on Fridays. I think of it as Fosamax Friday and just put the tablet on top in my pill case so that I won't forget and take all of my vitamins and thyroid pill until later that morning. Oh yes, a full glass of water and no lying down is required for at least 1 hour.
