Hi Karmic. I had SAVI treatment--5 days, twice a day. I didn't feel much different during or after treatment. Others have mentioned similar effects. Although it hasn't been active in a month, many have related their experiences with SAVI on this thread https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/70/topics/842473 Please ask any specific questions you may have and I'll try to get back with you. Are you scheduled for brachytherapy or determining if you will choose it? All the best. Ceanna

I finished one day. I felt few secs burning sensation in the first session.

When I told about it, all are getting alert..lol

The rad therapist did instead of nurse.

I askedif the fluid exists in the cavity. There is no definitive answer.

When asked how big is the cavity, they mentioned 19 cubic centimeter. My bs pulled double the amount of tissue. Hmm..

Let's see how it looks after few months.

I had a question on how much length of the ray does the seed emit radiation. There is no clear answer. But they told it is not going to burn the other parts.

On Wednesday I have three times radiation as the doc is going out on Thursday pm. Twice is too much I feel, thrice???

Waiting for Friday as this will be done

Karmic, glad you're one day done. Only a few more to go! I think I remember part of the reason for the CTs before each rads was to check for fluid or the device moving--if you're having SAVI type brachytherapy. Maybe ask the CT techs about the fluid. Cavity size being bigger than tumor size is probably an indication of your surgeon going for "clear margins." Probably a good thing! Not sure of the answer for your emitting radiation question, but since the radiation comes from the particle coming into the device and the particle is moving quickly with only the clicks indicating a fractional second stop in the tubes, I would estimate the radiation doesn't do too much while traveling fast, only when it stops. I've not heard of having rads 3 times in one day, but I don't see how that would be a problem. It's the cumulative effect of 10 treatments, not the time between them--some people have weekends between treatment days. All the best for a fast week and successful completion!! Ceanna

Finally after three months of dx I shed some for myself.

May be I became temporarily tired in this race of dealing with the unknown beast.
