Lump that is solid and fluid

edited March 2019 in Waiting for Test Results

I went in for my first ever mammogram and ultrasound today for a diagnostic. They decided to do a biopsy right then and there and then said the lump was solid and fluid. They got all the fluid out so now it’s just the solid lump. I have to wait for 3 days for any report or information. I was fine but left realizing I should have asked a thousand questions.

So has anyone had a lump that was solid and fluid? If you did was it just a cyst? It’s weird because I haven’t nursed in years but maybe it was leftover milk in my ducts

Now I’m consumed with all the questions and the dread of maybe another biopsy. That was so uncomfortable.

If course you realized you have a thousand questions! We all think of our questions after we leave the office or facility. My suggestion: as you think of a question write it down so you will have a list to refer to when you have a chance to get answers. In the meantime, if you are going to consult Dr. Google, please be very selective about what you read--try for information based on evidence, not on opinions. The breastcancer.org main site is a good example of a trustworthy site.

The three days of waiting will be stressful (to put it mildly). Sending you hugs as you are waiting...

thank you for your response! I’m going to start making my list of questions. I wish I had been more methodical when I was there.

I’ll just avoid google because I’m certain it’s not going to help me. Haha maybe just make the next couple days longer.

Thanks for your response I feel a little better knowing it’s normal having questions after.

I had a biopsy on two places that were solid masses. When I asked if they could be cysts they said “no, there is no fluid”. It made me anxious since “no fluid” seemed to be “bad”. Both masses turned out to be benign.

The waiting was excruciating. I’m praying all is benign. If you call back or go back, speak to the nurse navigator at your center. Words can’t explain how much talking with the nurse navigator helped.

Since it was your first ever mammogram, this could’ve been there for years and years not causing trouble.
