Lumpectomy ..what next

I had lumpectomy and they removed 4 nodes.. one is blue node.

What are the next steps.

If they are positive do I have to go through chemo

    Hi Karmic,

    Positive nodes don't necessarily mean chemo any more, and negative nodes doesn't necessarily get you out of chemo. I guess the next step will be sending your tumor for oncotype testing, which helps predict the usefulness of chemo.

    If you don't end up needing chemo, then the next step is radiation. Some women start the hormone therapy at about the same time, and some doctors prefer you to wait to start the hormone therapy until after radiation.

    Margins towards the posterior are not clear. They redo the surgery and repeat

    All Lymph nodes (3) are negative. Yay!

    There were granulomatas and waiting from the id doc.

    Good news about your lymph nodes!

    That's a pain about the repeated surgery. But the important thing is that you will get there.
