Arimidex to Aromasin: Joint Pain

Curious whether anyone experiencing joint pain on Arimidex has had any luck switching to Aromasin? I started Arimidex two years ago and have experienced significant joint pain. Three weeks after coming off of it for surgery, the joint pain is gone and I’m moving like a kid.

When I reported this to my oncologist, she offered to switch me to Aromasin to see if there might be some improvement in my pain and mobility. I wonder if anyone has had success with this strategy. Either way, what is “long enough” on the Aromasin to tell?

Many thanks,

Yuuki

I did and really regret the decision. The joint pain was better but on exemestane the dry effects were much worse. I think exemestane can cause permanent side effects, beware.

    This is interesting

I was on all thee, Aromasin, Arimidex and Letrozole. Both Aromasin and Arimidex gave me more pain than Femara. But be aware that it's different from person to person.

I did a trial before switching. I stopped taking Anastrozole for 2 weeks and recorded my joint pain ever day. It just about went away by the end of the 2 weeks. Then I started up again and my joint pain came back immediately. I recently switched to Exemestane and no joint pain. But now I have daily headaches that won't go away. Much better than debilitating joint pain, though

I switched from letrozole to examestane because of joint pain, and found the examestane to be so easily tolerated that I was concerned it might not be working! Everyone is different, but don't be afraid to try a change of medication.
